About Us

KTO Karatay University inherits its name from the Seljuk Madrasa, Karatay which had been founded by one of the supreme Seljuk statesmen, Emir Celaleddin Karatay in 1251. The Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTO) established in 1882, re-opened this madrasa in 2009 with a new name: KTO Karatay University.

It was a period of time Anatolia suffered from Mongolian invasions when Karatay Madrasa was opened. This tragic and victorious story was filmed by KTO Karatay University in the beginning of 2018.

For the benefit of Konya and Turkey, the movie set that would depict the Seljuk period was decided to be constructed in Konya, adjacent to TUYAP International Fair Center’s land belonging to The Konya Chamber of Commerce.

Turkey now has a 86.000 m2 movie set depicting the Seljuk period (13th century) in Anatolia. 20.000 m2 of the movie set is in a closed location that is used as blue box. This movie set is unique for the period it reflects.

It enables us to host all projects that will illuminate our history. Our door is always open to everyone for movie, documentary and similar projects. We hope that, especially with its transportation and accommodation means, Konya will turn into a new base for the movie industry.
