Direnis Karatay

The Konya Chamber of Commerce (KTO) and KTO Karatay University set out to tell a precious story in a highly popular language, cinema. At a time when the people of Anatolia was in danger of extinction, Emir Celaleddin Karatay founded the Karatay Madrasa that would raise statesmen. The story of Anatolia under Mongolian invasion and the foundation of the Karatay Madrasa was filmed in the beginning 2018.

The film reveals that even in the period of Beyliks in Anatolia, Turkish history is full of stories of heroism, justice and sacrifice. The ideal unity and togetherness are depicted in the solidarity of the statesman Emir Celaleddin Karatay, the business people (Ahis) of the day and their leader Ahi Evren and the most amazing man of the time Sadreddin Konevi as well as Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi.

For the war scenes of Direnis Karatay that got a 7,5 in IMDB, a stunt team of 45 worked really hard and nearly 1,000 special design arrows, bows, swords, spears and shields were used in these scenes. The world famous fashion designer Zeynep Kartal's efforts resulted in the production of 4300 pieces of costumes in a year.

As well as the most famous actors of the Turkish cinema Mehmet Aslantug and Fikret Kuskan, young stars like Alperen Duymaz, Burcu Ozberk, Nefise Karatay, Volkan Keskin ve Nik Xhelilaj took part in the movie.
